Anna
has 18 years of experience as a physical therapist, 15 of which are in
pediatrics. She is originally from New York City where she received her B.S. in
P.T. from Hunter College and her M.A. in Motor Learning from Teachers College
at Columbia University. She came to AZ by way of California where she was
employed at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for eight years, most recently in a
position of leadership, teaching and mentoring newer staff. The bulk of Anna's
experience has been treating infants and children with neurological diagnoses.
She has served on multidisciplinary clinic teams at two children's hospitals,
in Minneapolis and Los Angeles for children with Down Syndrome and Spina
Bifida, respectively. She is trained in neurodevelopmental treatment for
children with cerebral palsy, completing her basic certification in 1994. She
taught at the PT school at the University of Minnesota and has continued to be
involved in journal clubs and inservices for staff and parents at every
facility where she has practiced. IN CA she participated in a grant funded
multidisciplinary therapeutic playgroup for infants and toddlers with spina
bifida and clinical research on spasticity management for children with
cerebral palsy that was published last year in The Journal of Bone and Joint
Surgery.
Anna and her family relocated to Gilbert in June for her husband, Chris (also a
P.T.) to begin his position as a professor at ASU in the Department of
Bioengineering. Anna has two children, named CeCe and Luke, aged 7 and 4, a
guinea pig named, Ginger, two betta fish named Koko and Jojo, and a yellow lab
puppy named, Zoie. She and her family love the outdoors and are hopeful for
their new life in Arizona.
